Profile: Mr. Aslam Siddiqui was born in 1915 in Kairana. He was the second son of Mrs. & Mr. Mukrim Siddiqui. His primary schooling was done in the English Middle School, Kairana and afterwards he moved to Jodhpur for further studies. He passed grade eighth examination from Oswal Middle School, Mahamandir, grade tenth from Darbar High School and grade twelfth from Jaswant College, Jodhpur. In July 1935, He joined Allahabad University as a student of Faculty of Commerce and lived there as a resident in famous Hostel Holland Hall's room no. 61 in the proximity of Jawahar Lal Nehru's ancestral home Anand Bhawan. At that time Anand Bhawan and Swaraj Bhawan were the hub of political activities of Indian Freedom Fighters. He graduated from Allahabad University in 1937 and was selected for U.P. Local Fund Account Service by Public Service Commision in the same year. As an auditor he travelled throughout U.P. for nine years. He resigned from Government service in 1946 and joined Habib Bank Limited in Bombay as Selective Service Officer. At the time of partition he was the manager of the Chandni Chowk branch of Habib Bank in Delhi. The same time he moved to Pakistan and adopted it as his utopia. He held senior positions as Deputy Managing Director, National Bank of Pakistan and the Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan. In 1967 he was appointed Managing Director of Commerce bank of Pakistan Ltd. and held this position until nationalization of banks in January 1974 by the Zulfi Bhutto Government. In May 1974 he migrated to Hong Kong and joined the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) as its Chief Representative for the Far East and South-east Asia and Managing Director BCCI Finance International Limited, Hong Kong. He resigned from these positions in March 1982 and set up his own business in Hong Kong as a financial consultant and security and exchange trader. He has written an autobiography entitled, "Life and Times of a Pakistani Citizen" published by Ferozsons Private Limited Lahore. In this book he has given vivid description of Kairana and the princely state of Marwar Jodhpur during his childhood days.
